Pakiza Yadgar, Student Psychotherapist, Psychotherapy Intern

I am currently pursuing a Master’s in Counselling Psychology, fueled by a deep passion for mental health advocacy. Alongside my academic pursuits, I have completed Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), equipping me with essential tools to support individuals in crisis.

Under the supervision of Ilda Caeiro-Azzam, MSW, RSW, I am committed to providing compassionate and inclusive care. My approach integrates Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Person-Centered Therapy (PCT), tailoring each session to the unique needs of my clients. I am dedicated to creating a safe, supportive, and culturally sensitive space where every individual feels valued and heard.

As a member of a BIPOC community, I bring a nuanced understanding of diverse cultural experiences to my practice. My personal journey has deeply shaped my career path. Witnessing my mother’s struggles in a community that stigmatized mental health and supporting my husband through the mental toll of stage 4 lung cancer have reinforced my dedication to helping others navigate life’s challenges.

Professionally, I have supported individuals with a range of psychological and physical impairments, including major depression and PTSD, and my previous role as a Senior Accident Benefit Adjuster enriched my understanding of mental health complexities.

I am fluent in speaking English, Dari, and a bit of Hindi. I’m available to clients on weekdays after 5 PM and weekends from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Sessions can be scheduled through: ICA Counselling and Supervision.

I look forward to walking alongside you on your path to healing and well-being.
